Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some commonly asked questions about our Trustee Foundations™ programs. If you have additional questions, please contact us directly.

After I've downloaded the program I've ordered, how do I "unzip" the file so I can watch the program?
Once you have saved the program (a .zip file) to your computer, right click on the file you downloaded and select "extract all." A window will appear that says "welcome to the compressed (zipped) folders extraction wizard." Click "next" two times. Then click "finish."

After you click "finish" a folder will appear in the same location as your zip file with all of the program files ready for use. If you saved the original downloaded zip file to your desktop, the new folder created will also appear on your desktop.

Each program folder includes the following:

  • The program, in Adobe Flash format (see below for how to view an Adobe Flash video file)
  • A PDF handout of the program
  • A PDF with discussion questions to spark board discussion following the program
  • A PDF BoardBRIEF on the program topic, which may be printed and provided to trustees to read in advance of or following the program

Some programs also include additional documents or handouts related to the specific program topic.

How do I view the program?
Each program file is an executable Adobe Flash file. To view the program on your computer, simply open the folder and double-click on the file that begins with the word "Presentation."

The presentation will either open in Adobe Flash Player, or in your computer's Internet browser (such as Internet Explorer). If the program does not automatically open, you may need to install Adobe Flash Player. See below for additional information on how to download the free Adobe Flash Player.

To view the program in full view, click on the "maximize box" in the top right corner of the window, as shown below.

I've downloaded the program file, but when I try to watch the program my computer doesn't know how to play it. What's wrong?
If you double-click on the program but it doesn't immediately open and begin playing, there are two possible causes: 1) You don't have a current version of Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer, or 2) Your computer is blocking the file for security reasons.

Downloading Adobe Flash Player

Adobe Flash Player is free, secure and simple to install. To download the program, follow these easy instructions:

  1. Go to get.adobe.com/flashplayer
  2. Click on the link to install the program. It will say something similar to "agree and install now,” as shown in the screenshot below.

  1. A message will appear on your screen asking you if you want to install the program. Click install.

  1. A message from Adobe will appear telling you that the flash player installation was successful.
  2. Double-click on your Trustee Foundations™ program file to play the program (the program name will begin with the word "Presentation"). The program will open in Adobe Flash Player and immediately begin playing.

What To Do If Your Computer Blocks Access to the File

Some computers with extremely high security settings may block the file from being played. If this happens, you might get a message that says something like the screenshot below:

If this happens, right-click on the file and select"properties." In the general tab, click "unblock" (see the screenshot below for more details). Then double-click on the file again. It should open and begin playing.

My program plays, but it sounds like the end of each slide is being cut off.
If you play your program and it appears that the slides are advancing before the current slide is complete, the problem is most likely that the files were not "unzipped" before you played the program. Follow the instructions above for "unzipping" or "extracting" the files you downloaded, and then try watching the program again. Each slide should complete and have a brief pause before moving on to the next slide.

Do you have a form for documenting trustees' participation in the program?
Every program folder includes an Adobe PDF document called "Certificate of Education Participation." You may print copies of the certificate and complete them for each trustee who participates in the program. The certificates have placeholders for entering the trustees' names and the name of the program. The certificates also include a place for the Chairman of the Board to sign and date the certificate.
